Gateway Academy Spring Fashion Show for Autism Awareness

Gateway Academy, which serves twice-exceptional students who have Asperger’s syndrome and high-functioning autism, hosted a student spring fashion show in April at Gateway’s Phoenix campus to celebrate April’s Autism Awareness Month. The school offered a small breakfast for attendees, and then dozens of students from first through 12th grades strutted their best self-inspired fashions on the catwalk. The students used various materials, including buttons, fabrics, zippers and other props to create their one-of-a-kind look. The show was intended to celebrate and raise awareness during April’s Autism Awareness Month.

Local Restaurant Hosts Pajama Drive for Children in Foster Care

Children in foster care are among our nation’s most vulnerable populations. There are more than 14,000 foster children in the state of Arizona. These kids often do not own much or anything, and it can be life-changing when a child receives a new pair of pajamas, toiletries or school supplies we often take for granted. In May, U.S. Egg is partnering with Arizona Helping Hands to host a pajama drive. Donations are accepted at any of the six U.S. Egg locations in the Valley.
