WestWorld Showcases the 63rd Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show and Shopping Expo

The 63rd Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show and Shopping Expo, the largest horse show in the world, will open its doors Februray 15-25 at WestWorld in North Scottsdale. The show will welcome 2,400 horses, 300 commercial exhibitors and 50+ food vendors, and has put together a wonderful schedule of entertainment and education to entertain the whole family.

Visitors are also welcome to visit the barn areas where they can meet the owners and have the opportunity for little ones to pet the horses. Those interested in getting up-close to these horses are also encouraged to attend to the “Behind the Scenes” barn tour or the Meet an Arabian Horse exhibition where they can sit on an Arabian horse in a Native costume and get a photo taken and given to them for free.

Arizona Fine Art Expo Now 
Occurring in the Beautiful Desert Setting of North Scottsdale

Renowned artists from across the globe will make the beautiful Sonoran Desert in north Scottsdale home for 10 weeks as they create original pieces of fine art in what has come to be known as one of Arizona’s best venues for collecting fine art. The Arizona Fine Art Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. It began Friday, January 12 and runs through Sunday, March 25, under the festive white tents at 26540 N. Scottsdale Road., on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and Jomax Roads, next to MacDonald’s Ranch. Season passes cost $10, season passes for seniors and military are $8, and children under 12 are free. Parking is free.

The event features 115 patron-friendly studios within a 44,000 square-foot space, where guests have a rare chance to meet the artists, see them in action, and learn about their passion, inspiration and techniques. Throughout the 10 weeks, artisans will sketch passionately in pencil, charcoal and pastels; sculpt and fire clay; chisel and shape stone; and saw and carve wood sculptures. Artists also will paint in all media, stain and etch gourds, design lost wax casting, solder and weld jewelry, assemble mosaics, blow glass, plus fuse and kiln form glass sculptures. Art is for sale, and commissions are welcomed.

New this year: Two contemporary glass artists, Gregory Tomb and Anthony Barbano, will conduct glassblowing demonstrations throughout the show. Tomb also will offer glassblowing and glass fusing classes. In addition, Scott Shangraw, an acclaimed wood carver from New Mexico, will conduct chainsaw sculpture demonstrations on February 3, 17 and 24.

Also new this year, chef Giancarlo Stefanutto and owner Glenn Wagner of Sogno Toscano vineyard of Italy will demonstrate and share samples of delicious edibles on February 10.  

Patrons can also stroll throughout an enhanced 2-acre sculpture garden, which will feature nearly 20 stone, metal, glass and mixed media sculptures.

Since the first event, Bikes Fight Poverty has funded more than 100 houses as part of 1MISSION’s commitment to providing housing for families in Mexico, El Salvador and Nicaragua who are living in poverty.

You might know Judi Scanlon-Svendsen, the busy owner of Griffin Estate Sales as well as Griffin Antiques, a shop inside Scottsdale Marketplace, but nowadays, she is putting on her dancing shoes and taking dance lessons to perform in the Arizona Kidney Foundation Dancing With The Stars Gala. This charity event closely follows the phenomenally successful ABC TV show “Dancing With The Stars.”

When told her name was submitted she knew she had to do it! Her dad, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer, had to have a kidney removed. Judi will be dancing for him, as well as the 600,000+ Arizonians who suffer from chronic kidney disease.
