Wake Up to Decadent Morning Favorites at The Hash Kitchen

Owner and Executive Chef Joey Maggiore has taken brunch dining from a weekend pleasure to one that can be enjoyed seven days a week. He and his wife, Cristina, have recently opened their second The Hash Kitchen Creative Breakfast & Bar in North Scottsdale, which serves unique-style breakfasts, brunches and lunches. The extensive menu, delicious food, cheerful ambiance and generous servings have made this eatery a “go-to” favorite.

“We strive to be the best upscale brunch location in the Valley, serving a variety of creative, healthy food items and giving exceptional service,” says Chef Joey. “Our completely scratch kitchen provides top quality cuisine with imported ricotta and mascarpone cheeses.”

At an early age, Chef Joey learned to cook by being in the kitchen of his father’s Italian restaurant, Tomaso’s. His passion continued as he attended Scottsdale Culinary Institute. At 22 years old, he opened his first restaurant, Joey’s California Bistro, in San Diego. Now, with seven restaurant concepts tucked under his chef’s hat, Chef Joey continues to create amazing cuisine which, indeed, runs in the Maggiore blood.

Culinary Romance

Love was in the air the night Chef Joey met his charming wife, Cristina, while they were both attending a wedding with their respective dates. It wasn’t long after that they began dating, and within months, he proposed at a family event surrounded by 200 relatives. It was a match made in heaven’s kitchen, as both come from Sicilian families in the restaurant industry. Eighteen years and three beautiful children—Giuliana, Tomaso and Melina—later, they have definitely found the right ingredients for blending business with family.

“Cristina is my right hand; she oversees the restaurant operations, including the wonderful design. And, Flora Tersigni, CEO of Maggiore Culinary Concepts, is my left hand. Together we make an incredible team,” shares Chef Joey.

Bloody Mary Bar

You have never experienced a Bloody Mary as memorable as the one you’ll create at this incredible oversized bar. The steps to making a truly tasty beverage, to your liking, starts with rubbing the rim of your glass with your choice of salt, then choosing the infused vodka and topping it with one of four house Mary mixes, from mild to spicy. A selection of 40 items add to the fun of creating different combinations, from the standard to the not-so-standard choices, including bacon, pickled okra, garlic stuffed olives, meatballs and more, with the selection growing to 70 on weekends.

Wow Factor Delights

There are so many amazing items listed on the menu that I recommend you arrive hungry, as you’ll want to try a few. I sampled a delicious Carnitas Hash of braised pork, Hash potatoes, two eggs, avocado slices and fried onion rings. The pancake flight is another great choice, with four oversized pancakes: lemon, carrot, s’mores and Oreo. They’re so flavorful that I found I didn’t even need syrup. Another treat was the homemade buttermilk biscuits, and the yummy cannoli donuts. And my Hash Frittata was incredible. Other favorites include Breakfast Lasagna, Eggs Benedict, Scrambler’s, Waffles and Breakfast Bruschetta. You’ll also need to enjoy a flight of Mimosas; which flavors change daily.

Not to be out done, the lunch menu offers some tasty sandwich choices like a salmon BLT, a cubano made with roasted pork and black forest ham, and the brisket pastrami. There are also a few unique burgers choices, which include the bacon and eggs burger, the quinoa burger and the notorious burger.

No detail has been overlooked by this talented husband and wife duo either, who add DJ background music on weekends, providing an even more pleasurable experience. It’s now clear why The Hash Kitchen has been recognized for having one the Best Bloody Mary, Best Breakfast and Best Sunday Brunch in the Valley.
