Grand Opening

The Baked Bear recently celebrated the opening of its first Arizona location in the Village at Shea. The Baked Bear features made-to-order ice cream sandwiches with original cookie recipes baked from scratch and served fresh out of the oven daily, and craft ice cream made from the highest quality ingredients. Notre Dame Prep Girl’s Tennis Team Wins State Championship

Scottsdale’s Notre Dame Prep girl’s tennis team won this year’s AIA Division II State Championship at Paseo Racquet Club in Glendale. It was their first state championship since their five-year run at the top from 2007 to 2011. The NDP team faced their nemesis, Catalina Foothills High School from Tucson, a team they had never defeated before, to claim the title and bring the state championship back to Scottsdale. With NDP winning 5-4, it came down to a tiebreaker in #1 doubles, where junior Alexandra Lehman and senior Alyssa Heid toppled the top-seed Catalina Foothills duo in a come-from-behind victory.

The Boulders Completes Multi-Million-Dollar Renovation

The Boulders Resort & Spa recently announced the completion of their multi-million-dollar renovation. According to Howard Harris, general manager, “The changes are truly remarkable. Orangetheory Fitness Partners with Sweat Angels Program

Five local Orangetheory Fitness studios have launched an ongoing partnership with a nationwide program called Sweat Angels in an effort to raise funds for various charitable organizations through Facebook “check-ins” made by gym patrons. “We’re thrilled to have partnered with Sweat Angels, because it not only allows our members to improve their health, but also to work out for a cause,” says Matt Kafora, owner of Orangetheory Fitness Scottsdale, Downtown Phoenix, Moon Valley, Arrowhead and Lake Pleasant. Honors Local Graduates

North Scottsdale’s Washington Federal, in partnership with leading education technology company Everfi, Inc., was proud to honor nearly 300 sophomore students at Metro Tech High School as they graduated from the Washington Federal Financial Scholars Program, a financial education curriculum designed to provide students with the critical skills needed to make sound financial decisions. The program, which launched at Metro Tech in 2013, provides schools with Everfi’s interactive, web-based financial management education tool at no cost to either the school or taxpayers.
