With a successful entrepreneurial spirit, owners Tom and Jane Frenkel truly have a knack of knowing how to bring new concepts to the Valley. Having moved to Phoenix in 1985, they opened their first beauty mall in downtown Scottsdale. It was a new concept where hairdressers, manicurists, massage therapists and others in the beauty service industry could rent space and have their own business sharing in the overhead as opposed to carrying the whole cost on their own. This concept caught on and the Frenkel’s expanded with other locations.

With the same passion, they decided to open another concept in downtown Scottsdale. It would be concept that provided a beautiful location where people could hold milestone events and create lasting memories. Construction started on February 9, 2010, and a year later the Frenkel’s opened The Clayton on the Park. It didn’t take long for word to spread as guests who attended events there fell in love with the ambiance, food and views.

“Creating an event venue space that is modern and non-traditional has been a dream come true,” shares Jane. “We offer a unique and refreshing alternative for events and since we opened our doors in 2011, people have really responded to the look and feel of the venue and every year the number of events booked have exceeded our own expectations.”

Living Up to its Motto

The Clayton on the Park lives up to its motto, Transcend Tradition. They go beyond, surpassing their client’s expectations. Having dreams and visions come true is what every bride wants when planning her wedding. At The Clayton on the Park, dreams come true.

The location and facility were carefully planned out to accommodate the venue needs of their clients. The décor is fresh and modern. Three different areas can be transformed to accommodate guests. On the first floor is the Clayton Room, which can seat 120 with a dance floor, 150 without a dance floor or 200 for cocktails. Adjacent to it is the Terrace, an outdoor patio that seats 100 or 150 for cocktails. And, on the second floor is the Gallery. It is a perfect room for a wedding ceremony, with floor-to-ceiling views of the Scottsdale Civic Center Park. The Gallery can accommodate 150 seated or 200 for cocktails.

A wedding coordinator will help guide you with your decisions to make sure nothing is overlooked. The venue can be transformed into a wonderful atmosphere in whatever style you choose – modern, traditional, classic, simple or glamorous. There is a choice of 36 colors to choose from for linens and tablecloths. And, the beautiful silver chairs work well with any style and color. Having a professional team handle these details, allows the wedding couple more time to get their cake, flowers, photographer and DJ.

“Working hand-in-hand with our clients to create the event of their dreams is such an honor. From brides to corporate clients, we treat each one as unique and special as the event they are planning,” comments Sara Cruz-Mora, marketing manager and site coordinator.

Extraordinary Food

With a focus on locally grown seasonal ingredients, the chefs will create a menu that will definitely please the most discerning palate. Choices of dinners offered are plated sit-down, buffet, custom dinner stations, dessert bar and late night menus.

All catering is done in-house by a well-seasoned and talented husband and wife team, Chefs Susan and Saville Levy. They have over 27 years experience. Originally from South Africa, they love to cook and create new tastes using simple, fresh ingredients.

“Our goal is to create fresh and innovative menu options for our clients. No boring banquet food here. We pour our passion into every ingredient and are not fully satisfied unless our guests leave raving about their dining experience,” explains Saville.

And, that’s exactly what they do. Nothing is overlooked. Even an in-house dessert bar comes with all catering packages. Based on the countless testimonies from clients commenting on how their guests enjoyed the delicious food, the Levy’s definitely know what they’re doing.

New Trends

Wedding couples are getting away from formal, sit-down dinners and opting for food stations which allow guests to wander among stations trying different foods. Once you decide on a food theme, like Italian, Sliders, Down South or Sonoran, each station will then have a few different items for your guests to enjoy.

Another popular dinner option is family-style dining. Large platters carrying the entrée, salads and vegetables are brought to the table where guests pass them around. It’s a more relaxed atmosphere that engages your guests.
